Meanwhile, in my experience, if you get a reputation for having a moral compass that that doesn't acknowledge "protect bad officers" as priority #1, it's hard to even get an interview--this (in my case) with a 4 year degree in Criminal Justice.
Those of you who remember the California rampart scandal the TV show "The Shield" was loosely based off of? Most of those officers were re hired a few miles down the road.

There’s a saying without n the education system for bad teachers who constantly move to new schools: the lemon dance. They’re almost always caught either failing to do their jobs of committing some kind of malfeasance, and are ousted from their school, but never truly punished or retraine, and can simply take a new job.
